In past years the Camino Real Playhouse has teamed with the local community to develop plans for a CAPISTRANO CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS. Our original plans were to upgrade our existing building graciously provided by the City of San Juan Capistrano to house a 168-seat state-of-the-art theater, a smaller 88-seat cabaret style “black box” performance space, rehearsal rooms, meeting rooms, technical workshop, costume/set storage, box office, and office suites. This exciting new space was planned to bring exposure to not only theatre arts, but to provide a place for music and civic events.

Unfortunately ... the markets tumbled, the economy stumbled, and times changed.

Our dreams for a vibrant theatre arts center in South Orange County are still alive ... just the way in which we will be able to accomplish those dreams has changed. In the next year we will tell you all about what we have planned for the future, but until that day ... please continue to be the faithful patrons of the arts that you are.

Attend plays at the Playhouse. View our new season of entertainment on the 88 seat Main Stage and in our 49 seat Black Box Theatre.

Enroll your children or sponsor a child to attend our acting classes for children and young adults.

Bring your whole family and all of your friends to our annual Shakespeare Festival in San Juan's historic town center park.

Come out for an audition and perform on stage in a play, a musical or even a 10 minute play in our annual international playwriting festival.

And be sure not to miss our old west style Melodrama which has been a part of San Juan for the last 22 years.

So much to see and so much to do. Become a season ticket holder and contribute what you can to our Curtain Call Club. Together ... as a community ... we can make it through these tough times and become the center for performing arts in South Orange County that will make a difference for generations.
